Germaldeide is a glutaric dialdehyde-based cold sterilizer for surgical instruments and devices.

Glutaraldehyd is particularly suitable for a thorough disinfection and sterilization because of its particularly broad spectrum of action along with its fast germicide power and its low corrosiveness for a large number of medical materials (including metals, rubber and glass).

Germaldeide is highly effective against: 

- bacteria gram +

- bacteria gram -

- Fungi

- Spores 

- HIV and HBV viruses

It is effective also if exposed to proteins and blood.

Germaldeide is suitable for cold sterilization, antiseptic conservation and strong disinfection. 

For cold sterilization purposes it has to be used undiluted dipping the instruments for at least two hours. It is suitable for all instruments as a result of its low corrosiveness – surgical tools, diagnostic devices, thermolabile instruments with optical cements (like endoscopes, dialysis plates and devices), rubber, glass, plastic and stainless steel objects (like endotracheal tubes, probes, joints, pipes, aspiration tubes), etc.

or sterilization: completely submerge the devices in the Germaldeide solution as it is and leave in for at least 2 hours.  Prior to use, rinse with sterile water.

For disinfection: to destroy pathogenic vegetative forms completely submerge the instruments for at least 10 minutes in the solution as it is. Prior to use, rinse with sterile water.

For aseptic preservation: dilute 200 ml of Germaldeide in 1 litre of water and immerse previously sterilized instruments.
